Reality Check

Let’s get straight to the point—postpartum can be incredibly tough. For me, it was a whirlwind of sleepless nights, emotional highs and lows, and a constant battle with breastfeeding. There were days when I felt completely overwhelmed and alone.

Postpartum depression and anxiety took a toll on my mental health, and I found myself questioning my ability to be the mom I wanted to be.

Facing the Challenges Head-On

In those early postpartum days, breastfeeding was one of my biggest challenges. It seemed like no matter what I did, I couldn’t get it right. I felt like I was failing at something that was supposed to be natural and intuitive. The pressure I put on myself only made things worse, and soon, I found myself spiraling into postpartum depression and anxiety.

It was during this time that I realized I needed help. I reached out to lactation consultants, joined support groups, and slowly began to find my footing. But the real turning point came when I had my second child and had a dream postpartum experience by preparing for postpartum long before I even got pregnant again.

After my son's birth, I knew it was time to leave my teaching job and pursue my passion for helping other moms in their postpartum journeys. This was a difficult decision, but I knew that to thrive, I needed to make a change.

Embracing Milestones

Quitting my teaching job was both terrifying and liberating. It allowed me to focus on my recovery and explore new opportunities. Shortly after, I accepted a position at a Pregnancy Center. This job was a game-changer. It allowed me to work closely with new and expecting mothers, providing the support and guidance I had once desperately needed.

Working at the Pregnancy Center reignited my passion for helping others, and it wasn’t long before I decided to take the leap and go out on my own. Becoming a postpartum doula was a natural progression for me. It combined my love for teaching with my desire to support mothers during one of the most challenging times in their lives.

Why I Do What I Do

Every challenge I faced and every milestone I reached has shaped me into the doula I am today. My journey has been filled with lessons in resilience, empathy, and the power of community. I am passionate about providing the support and encouragement that every mother deserves during her postpartum journey.
