11 Must-Have Postpartum Recovery Products for Mom

😰Let's be real – childbirth is no walk in the park. It's a life-changing, body-transforming, soul-stirring experience that leaves you in awe and, let's be honest, a little sore. Postpartum recovery is a journey, and while every mom's path is unique, we all deserve a little extra TLC. Whether you’re in the throes of new motherhood or gearing up for the adventure, I’ve got your back with 11 must-have products that will make your recovery smoother and more comfortable.

In this blog post, you’ll learn

  • What You Can’t Skip Out On

  • What You Don’t Need

  • What to Stock Up on Before Baby Comes

1. Perineal Ice Packs

Let's start with the unglamorous but oh-so-essential. Perineal ice packs are a godsend for those tender nether regions. They help reduce swelling and numb the pain. Trust me, you’ll want a stash of these in your freezer.

My favorite postpartum recovery kit has the first three items on the list!

2. Witch Hazel Pads

These little miracles soothe and heal any perineal discomfort. Witch hazel is naturally anti-inflammatory and can work wonders on hemorrhoids too. Keep them handy and you'll be thanking yourself (and me) later.

3. High-Waisted Underwear

Ditch the low-rise panties for a while. High-waisted underwear offers better support and is much more comfortable, especially if you've had a C-section.

4. Comfortable Nursing Bras

Your breasts are on a rollercoaster ride of their own. Investing in a few high-quality, comfortable nursing bras will provide much-needed support and easy access for breastfeeding.

5. A Waterproof Mattress Liner

One postpartum symptom I was not prepared for was the night sweats. On top of that, you are leaking breast milk, nursing a baby who spits up, and you might be doing late-night diaper changes on the bed. Trust me when I say that the waterproof liner for your bed will save your mattress for years to come.

6. Portable Heating Pad

For some non-medical pain relief, try a portable heating pad that be worn around your back or abdomen. Plus, this doubles as relief when Aunt Flow makes her appearance again. Check out my favorite HERE.

7. Nipple Cream

Breastfeeding can be tough on your nipples. A good nipple cream can provide relief from cracking and soreness, making the experience more pleasant for you and your baby. I love Mama Natural, but Coconut Oil makes a great nipple cream too! Coconut oil can be repurposed as a natural lubricant when your medical provider gives you the all-clear.

8. Postpartum Recovery Tea

Sip your way to recovery with specially formulated postpartum teas. They can help with everything from boosting your milk supply to calming your nerves.

9. After Ease

Don’t be a hero. Your body has just birthed a baby either vaginally or by surgery. Plus, you may experience after-pains as your uterus shrinks down to size. Many moms are not prepared for these cramping sensations. If you’re looking for an herbal remedy, I suggest After Ease. Of course, always check with your medical provider first!

10. A Supportive Pillow

Whether it's for breastfeeding or just catching a few winks, a supportive pillow can make a world of difference. Find one that works for you and keep it close. My Breast-Friend is great for someone new to breastfeeding and wanting more structure.

The breastfeeding pillow or pregnancy pillow can be multi-use as well–you can create a donut to sit on top of if you are healing from stitches, put it between your legs to relieve hip pain, and so much more.

11. Postpartum Support

Whatever your situation is, having support is key to your recovery. If your spouse can only get a week off of work, then you may need to ask a parent or grandparent to come and stay or hire a postpartum doula to help you through the first few weeks of postpartum.

Motherhood is a marathon, not a sprint.

Taking care of yourself isn’t just important – it’s essential. These products aren’t just luxuries; they’re lifelines that help you heal and regain your strength.

Remember, it’s okay to ask for help and lean on these tools. You’re doing an incredible job, and giving yourself the care you deserve is part of that.

If this list helped you share it with other moms who might need a little extra love during their postpartum journey.

đŸ’ȘđŸŒStay strong, mama. You’ve got this.
